How Adil Baguirov is Changing Education?
Adil Baguirov is a board member in Dayton school but has relieved his position for new and better opportunities. Well after all, his past works have made significant contributions to how our education system is now and to how it is affecting students.
Education is not a finite process and it does not start at morning bell then stops at dismissal particularly it does not start on the first day of your kindergarten and ends on your graduation day on college and years ahead, Adil Baguirov Dayton has seen this already.
What is saddening for Mr. Adil Baguirov in this modern world is that, passing the exams, giving the correct answers and achieving goals are the main focus of our education system. There are numerous foundational blocks being missed which is critical in developing lifelong learning. These aren’t new ideas that were presented because in reality, there are several studies and researches that can support this.
Number 1. Learning should be relevant – if we can learn new skills because we need it to do something important for us, then it will be easier to remember it. So as an example, for students who want to know how to properly measure the land area and calculate it to grow a garden, they will need a formula to get the answer. In one way or the other, they’ll get the formula on their own which can improve their skills and widen their knowledge.
Number 2. Extrinsic rewards – Adil Baguirov believed that these extrinsic rewards being offered for activities people enjoy has a tendency to decrease their level of motivation. To make it simpler, if you have a kid who enjoys reading and has become a habit for him/her to read 30 minutes a day, giving them rewards will cause it to have less pleasure from reading.
As a matter of fact, Adil Baguirov Dayton believe that such rewards has to be saved from the time that it is needed in motivating people to do things that they don’t want. Aside from that, learning associated with grades becomes learning only for grades and not for added knowledge. Truth is, there are countless of students who graduated college with honors but can’t remember the content they’ve learned once the test is done.
Number 3. Group study – collaborative learning environments actually encourages students to listen to others, think for themselves and explain what they think. By the time they leave school, it is crucial for students to initiate a collaborative study. This is why Adil Baguirov Dayton is trying to rule out the tradition of testing every student one by one and make them compete against each other instead, encourage them to collaborate.
